Our community choir
If you enjoy singing, we’d love you to get involved.
You don’t need to audition, and it doesn’t matter if you feel you can’t sing! It’s a chance for you to blend your different voices to create a beautiful sound, whether you have previous choir experience or not.
We rehearse in a number of different locations, such as shared spaces in care homes and hospitals. The choir practices on different days of the week so that as many people as possible can join in, whatever other commitments you have.
It should be an exciting experience!
As well as having a great time, our aims for the choir are to:
- address social isolation
- promote wellbeing
- create greater community cohesion
- increase awareness of the value of advocacy in all its forms.
We also have plans to work with nationally known performers, as well as with other community choirs.
We are lucky to have Josh Kyeyune as the musical director (he is also one of our independent advocates). He has lots of experience of bringing singers together to perform. There will be a wide range of music, some of which you will probably know well, and some that may be new to you.
‘Santa in the City’
Our very first performance was on 6 December, as part of the famous ‘Santa in the City’ event. The Advocacy Project was chosen to sing festive songs to support the runners and help give out the medals. A great time was had by everyone. We are also holding carol concerts in various locations during the run-up to Christmas.
Our next performance
We will be singing at Beatrice Place on 20 Dec at 2.00 – 3.30pm.
Everyone is welcome so if you would like to join us please get in touch with us as soon as possible on 07984 353 961 or you can fill in your details below.
