Getting advocacy during the Coronavirus outbreak

17th March 2020

To limit the spread of Coronavirus, advocates will only be meeting face to face in an emergency.

If you need advocacy support you can contact us by:

  • Calling us on 020 3960 7920
  • Booking an appointment here
  • Filling in the self-referral form here
  • Emailing us at

Ways we can talk with you

We will not be able to meet face to face but we can talk with you using:

  • phone
  • video messaging such as WhatsApp and Zoom
  • email

Ways we can advocate for you

We can still provide you with advocacy but without meeting face to face.

What advocates do

An advocate will support you to:

  • speak up about what you want
  • know what your rights are
  • understand information so you can make your own decisions

An advocate will not:

  • give you advice
  • make choices for you
  • take another person’s side
  • judge you

We will always respect your decision.

How advocates work

  • We are independent from other services
  • Advocacy is free
  • Advocacy is confidential; we will not pass on anything you share with us unless:
    – you ask us to
    – you are not safe
    – you are talking about harming yourself or others

We will only take action if you ask us to.

What advocates can help you with

  • Speaking up at meetings
  • Getting the right support
  • Making a complaint
  • Getting the services you need

We will listen to what you want and support you to get it

What we do

We talk with you and give you information in a way you will understand. Our advocates will:

  • work with you one to one
  • explain what we can and cannot do
  • give you information about other services

We give you time and space to think about what you want and to tell us what you need.
